Pet of the Month -

Mark & Daniela Bryant of Vidor are the owners of Rudy. Rudy is an adorable 9 month-old Yorkshire Terrier. In September Rudy’s curiosity brought his tiny teeth down on an electrical wire in his owner’s home. Daniela Bryant discovered Rudy and in panic yelled for her husbands help. Without hesitation Mark Bryant rushed into the room, unplugged the lamp, and began to resuscitate the lifeless body of Rudy with puffs of air and chest compressions. Mr. Bryant was able to revive Rudy after a few minutes of work, only to lose him yet again. On the second round of resuscitation, his owner brought Rudy back to li fe successfully. Rudy suffered from bone necrosis which is now being treated under Dr. Pugh’s care. Even more to our amazement, one month prior to the electrocution Rudy survived Parvovirus. We congratulate him on earning the September Pet of the Month and for his undeniable will to live.

In Memory Of "Maisie"

Robert Wallace of Bridge City is the owner of Maisie, a 9-year-old beautiful Boston Terrier. On July 30, 2007, Maisie was diagnosed with mammary tumors and surgery was scheduled the very next day for removal. After the removal of the cancer a long recovery ensued. On September 17th Maisie returned for another recheck appointment. During the exam the area of the surgery site showed multiple 4-6mm growths that flared up within 3 days. Chemotherapy was started on September 24th in the hopes that Maisie would pull through. To our dismay her condition worsened after the second treatment and she lost interest in food and water. On October 9th Maisie collapsed and was rushed to the emergency hospital in Beaumont. The staff at the hospital was unable to resuscitate her by the time she got there. Her death devastated our entire staff and even more so her loving owner. She will be greatly missed by everyone, and in honor of her memory we announce her as our pet of the month for November.
